ASTRO Annual Meeting is Showcase for Vero SBRT
Vero GmbH Presents 1:1 Model of Next-Generation System
Vero GmbH showcased a 1:1 model of it’s state-of-the-science SBRT system to the more than 4000 professionals attending the 53rd annual ASTRO meeting held in Miami, Florida, October 2-6, 2011.
The Vero SBRT full-scale model demonstrated the system’s new dynamic tumor tracking feature, a unique treatment approach designed to significantly reduce the use of margins for moving targets. Studies are currently underway to prove that Vero is able to treat moving targets as accurately as it treats static targets. Combined with fluoroscopy sequences, Vero dynamic tracking enables real-time precision treatment of moving targets. Furthermore, the system has the potential to simultaneously move the gantry and the ring for smooth transition between coplanar and non-coplanar treatments. Called Dynamic Wave Arc, this advanced technology allows clinicians to drive arcs in wave movement avoiding healthy tissue, organic risks and tumors.
Over 1,000 patients have been treated since the first Vero system was installed in Kobe, Japan, in 2008. There are 11 Vero systems sold and mainly already installed around the world.
